Veterinary assistants handle routine animal care and help scientists, veterinarians, and others with their daily tasks. They will work mainly in clinics, animal hospitals, and research laboratories.
Learn core concepts of the veterinary field:
- Animal behavior
- Animal nutrition
Exposure to technical skills in a veterinary assistant lab. The lab will simulate the tasks performed daily in a clinical setting including:
- Bathing & ear cleaning
- Nail trimming
- Dental exam
- Restraint and handling
- Surgical assisting
All students complete an off-site externship at a clinic or animal care facility of their choosing. This opportunity gives you critical experience and a realistic view into what working as a veterinary assistant truly means.
