Employees Honor Breast Cancer Survivor at Community Care College

October 25, 2017

Tulsa, Okla., (October 24, 2017) – Community Care College is celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness month with a tribute to an employee who is also a survivor.

Dr. Lisette Wigton is the Department Head for the Veterinary Assistant program at Community Care College. Her colleagues joined together and purchased “Team Lisette” shirts with a Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbon on the front formed out of animal paw prints. According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc., “One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.”

The college is proud to have Dr. Wigton, a 1996 graduate of the Center for Veterinary Health Sciences at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, on their team. For over 21 years in the Tulsa area, she has focused her medical practice mainly on small animals though she also has experience in equine medicine. While she enjoys caring for all animals, her major interests include exotic pets and internal medicine. Throughout her career, she has spent countless hours educating clients about animal healthcare and this has enabled her to make a seamless transition to teaching our veterinary assistant students.

Community Care College is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dually licensed and accredited institution offering various diploma and degree programs in healthcare, business and lifestyle careers. For more information on CCC’s parent company, visit CommunityHigherEd.
