Recently I have been asked why an Associate’s Degree in Medical Assisting has advantages over getting a diploma in Medical Assisting.
The Associate’s Degree of Occupational Science in Medical Assisting (AOSMA) may keep you competitive in today’s business field. An AOS degree could provide you with:
The degree is a fast-paced program. It is business focused which sets the stage for leadership and management opportunities. The degree can be obtained in the classroom on-ground or on-line to fit your schedule.
So, why add the Associate’s Degree to the Diploma program classes? This more detailed level of qualification gives you a wider range of skills. It also goes into depth on more complex topics such as Leadership Development, Critical Thinking, and Business. All of these will make you more marketable to future employers.
An added benefit is that you get training for higher level skills. This includes Human Resources, Marketing, Management, and Business Law which puts you in a much stronger position when applying for jobs. This will help you get promoted into higher paying roles more quickly where you will have the responsibility of managing other Medical Assistants and front office staff.
Lastly, if you later want to take your career in new directions such as becoming a Medical Assistant Instructor, then you may be better positioned than someone who has the diploma level of qualification.

Great explanation of why the AOS is so important in today's job market.
Always want to be on top of the field you choose to specialize in...I enjoy the fact that here at community care college that we have the opportunity to achieve an associates degree in medical assisting while we are attending...get it all done at one time and have a wonderful beginning to a fabulous career...not everyone offers...
I totally agree in the benefits of receiving and AOS especially having it offered at CCC. An AOS opens many opportunities in the medical field. I personally have an Associates Degree in Medical Secretary but in Applied Sciences so I hope in my future this may a be a benefit for me. With a degree you have the opportunity to work in the clinical setting, business setting or both.
Great Information Stacey! This is why I chose Community Care College! I know that when I complete my training with my associates degree I'll ready to move on up to even bigger and better things!
This gave me more insight about what I want and need to do to take my career to the max. I want more opportunities in my field for a better life for my family and I. As a single mother, I am determined to make the best for my children.
This post was really interesting. It actually made me think about considering to further my education with a degree. I also really liked how the post states "accelerated work placement and job stability" because in todays society, job stability is very important
I agree with this blog a 110{94fe5c559808ed7bd39f078f11566ac932912c859251df94cb296262c184f7e8} because i do believe that education is the key to the future and with greater knowledge comes greater powers, the power to change lives and see your own work come to life. As a future health care provider, I plan on furthering my education so i can better understand my work and help my community as much as i can.
I want to thank you so much with this info.and to know i can possiley do the course on line.nice
I would love to to get my associates degree from CCC. My only reservation is the cost of the program. I already feel like I owe a very large school loan. I think it would be best if I had a job and could do It online at night.
And you can, Erin!
I really enjoyed reading this article about why getting your degree in Medical Assisting is important. Getting your degree will keep you in demand in the job market by keeping you marketable in many more different areas. It will keep you ahead of the game instead of behind in the job market.
