The Paralegal Studies program prepares students to become future paralegals and legal assistants. You’ll learn to perform a variety of tasks such as client-interviewing, research, administrative tasks and writing.
Make it an Associate of Occupational Science Degree
Additionally, for those seeking to further expand their horizons and educational credentials, our program offers the option to pursue an Associate of Occupational Science (AOS) Degree. By choosing this path, you can extend your program from 12 to 19 months and gain valuable knowledge in areas such as Business Law, Critical Thinking, Principles of Business, Human Resources, Accounting Principles, Business Communications, Principles of Management, and Leadership Development. This not only broadens your educational foundation but also opens up a world of opportunities. The AOS Degree can also provide you with the necessary background to sit for certain optional paralegal certifications, further enhancing your qualifications in the legal field.

Qualifications
Your training will qualify you to take support staff positions in the legal field such as law offices and other law related positions.
Support staff can include legal secretaries, legal assistants and paralegals. Working as a paralegal requires strong research, writing and analysis skills, and our program will help you reach your highest potential in those areas.

Paralegal and Legal Assistant Responsibilities:
- Investigate and gather the facts of a case
- Conduct research on relevant laws, regulations and legal articles
- Organize and maintain documents in paper or electronic filing systems
- Gather and arrange evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation
- Write or summarize reports to help lawyers prepare for trials
- Get affidavits and other formal statements that may be used as evidence in court
- Help lawyers during trials by handling exhibits, taking notes or reviewing trial transcripts
- File exhibits, briefs, appeals and other legal documents with the court or opposing counsel
- Call clients, witnesses, lawyers, and outside vendors to schedule interviews, meetings and depositions
