Informational Interviews and Changing Times

Times are Changing and Informational Interviews Lead the Way

As Bob Dylan once stated, “The times they are a-changin” and with these changes come new ways to conduct your job search. It is vital that job seekers remain up-to-date on different ways to make connections in their industry. We have all heard the popular saying, “it’s not what you know, but who you know.”

Career Services set out on an exciting adventure teaching our students how Informational Interviews have proven to be successful with our alumni. We covered all of the details from the definition to how to conduct one.

But the reoccurring message… reminds me a bit of the photo to the left!

Maybe that’s how they think I look, but not the point!

“But Mrs. Amanda,” they say.

“We don’t want to step out of our comfort zone!”  They plead.

Guys, I get it! Change can be scary. However, this is one of those times that I really need for you to trust us.

I too am changin’ things up a bit. Instead of me rambling on about my version of the events that unfolded in Tyler’s story. Take a moment to hear it straight from her. In the following video, Tyler shares her story on how an Informational Interview helped her pave the way to landing the job that she had set out for from the very beginning of her journey in animal medicine.

If that doesn’t help you to decide to contact Career Services for more about Informational Interviews, then I have one last quote to share.
