How Do You Define Success?

January 20, 2016

One of my High School football cheers went like this: “S-U-C-C-E-S-S, that’s the way we spell success!”

What determines success in your life?

John Foster Dulles said, “The measures of success is not whether you have a tough problem to deal with, but whether it’s the same problem you had last year.” Woody Allen said, “80% of success is showing up.” Another comedian – and one of my favorites – Jonathan Winters said, “I couldn’t wait for success, so I went ahead without it.” I’ve also heard it said, “The key to success is setting aside eight hours a day for work and eight hours a day for sleep and making sure they aren’t the same hours.” The philanthropist John D. Rockefeller Jr. said, “The secret to success is to get up early, work late, and strike oil.” Lastly, the news anchorman David Brinkley said, “A successful man can lay a foundation with the bricks thrown at him.”

Personally, I define success by being blessed with a healthy life filled with happiness, surrounded by those I love.

As we kick off 2016 with personal and professional goals, how do you spell S-U-C-C-E-S-S?
