Accelerated Veterinary Assistant Program

Community Care College presents a concise nine-month program for aspiring veterinary assistants. Learn crucial skills supporting animal care under the guidance of a Veterinarian and Registered Veterinary Technician, emphasizing practical experience. Engage in hands-on training, field trips, and networking opportunities. As a veterinary assistant, manage routine animal care across clinics, hospitals, and labs. Gain valuable insights through visits to animal hospitals and the Tulsa SPCA, connecting with industry professionals. Make a tangible impact on animals' lives sooner than expected. Excitingly, our cutting-edge Veterinary Assistant Lab, equipped with advanced facilities, guarantees a high-quality education, covering essential aspects from dental care to surgical asepsis. What You’ll Learn

This program features both hands-on training in clinic and classroom sessions to teach you core concepts of the veterinary field. You’ll learn:

Anatomy
Animal behavior
Animal nutrition
Dentistry
Physiology
Bathing & ear cleaning
Nail trimming
Teeth brushing
Restraint and handling
Parasitology
Urinalysis
Hematology
Surgical assisting
Radiology

This program also includes an off-site externship at a clinic or animal care facility of your choice. This will give you important experience and an understanding of what working as a vet assistant really means.

Career Opportunities

The Accelerated Veterinary Assistant program at CCC will prepare you to work in a wide variety of settings, including animal hospitals, labs, sanctuaries, veterinary clinics and the SPCA. According to the BLS, demand for veterinary assistants is expected to grow by 14% from 2020 to 2030, which is faster than average.
