Traditions to Bring Home This Christmas

December 6, 2018

With the Holiday’s coming up, we can’t help but think about all of our beloved Christmas traditions. You might be thinking that your family isn’t one for tradition, but think again. Most Americans who celebrate Christmas always have similar actions they repeat year after year. Just because your traditions aren’t something spectacular doesn’t mean they can’t make the season bright. Our community has gathered some of our favorite Christmas traditions to share with you.

Elf on the Shelf

Elf on the Shelf might be more of a holiday tradition for the kids but it’s just as fun for the adults. Some people can get really creative with the mischief their elf gets into. What kind of crazy things have you caught your elf doing? Some of our employees confess they’ve caught their elf in a battle with the stuffed animals, fishing off the side of the toilet, taking baths in marshmallows, and even zip lining through the living room! If you’re looking for fun and creative ways to get your elf into trouble, Pinterest always has great ideas. Here is a great article full of fun ideas for your mischievous elf this Christmas. Donation Days

‘Tis the season of giving and we are so excited about all of the good work that will be done in Tulsa over the holidays. Whether it’s through time, money, or talent you can get involved in the community this December. Click here to read an article that lists some of the great ways you can make a difference over the holidays!

Paper Snowflakes

While this may seem like a craft that younger children do to decorate a classroom, it can actually make for great family time. There’s nothing more magical than walking into a home where the ceiling is covered in beautiful and unique snowflakes. We suggest keeping a trash can near for the paper snippings so this fun activity doesn’t get too messy. You can even check out the Philbrook’s extravagant paper snowflake decor for some inspiration.

Christmas Movies

This suggestion is for all of those naysayers who claim their families have no Christmas traditions. Everyone loves a great Christmas movie whether it’s The Santa Clause, The Polar Express, A Christmas Story, or even How The Grinch Stole Christmas. We know you probably watch the same ones every year and for good reason! Christmas movies are a great way to relax and just be with your loved ones.

Local Light Displays

If you live in Tulsa, you know how crazy we are for our holiday light shows. Rhema Bible Church is busy with Tulsans walking through their wintery wonderland and getting engaged. Utica Square fills with holiday shoppers and kids eager to meet Santa Clause. Don’t miss out on the free entertainment that Tulsa has to offer. Tulsa World compiled a great list of shows, light shows, and markets to visit this holiday season. Take a look!
